Air Marshall S. Dono Indarto (Nov 1925 - Oct 1998)
You may heard some people call him "Pak Dono", "Capt","KA Badan Basarnas", "Bapak" and "Eyang". He is the founder and chief of Search and Rescue Indonesia in 1972-1985. He is also one of the chairman of PSSI in1977 and Air Attache Indonesia around 1961-1963.
He was born in Klaten, Solo,Indonesia on November 1st 1925. Two years after graduating high school, he was chosen as one of 60 student aviator to learn how to be a fighter in America for two years.
When the 30 September Movement striked in 1965, he was a General Commander of The Air Academy in Adisucipto Airport, Jogja. Because of the incident of G30SPKI, he and all the air force military had to face the Military Court to be a witness for DN. Aidit, the mastermind of PKI. At the end, he and all the air force military were proven clean and innocent.
In 1977, an airplane crashed in Tinombala, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The plane was called Twin Otter and this is the first case that SAR handle and it turned out successful, in that year SAR was still Pusarnas (and now BASARNAS).
After that incident, this case was made into a movie because of how much appreciation for SAR was given by the people, but he resist to play his part as himself in the movie so an actor is playing for him.

Before that, Indonesia don't have any Search and Rescue Organaization and was categorize as Black Area, due to this condition he suggest the Indonesian government to establish PUSARNAS (now BASARNAS). Then, he promote this organization to the rest of Search an Resscue Organization around the world.
