Appropriation
On the second day of Visual Communication class we learned about 'Appropriation". According to Wikipedia, appropriation in art is: the use of pre-existing objects or images with little or no transformation applied to them. The use of appropriationhas played a significant role in the history of the arts (literary, visual, musical and performing arts). so basically appropriation is, borrowing or adopt an image then replace/add another image into it, for instance like the class assignment that the teacher told us to do:
first, i cover the original face with a white correction pen so i have a blank area to fill them in with another character, then i drew the characters on that blank area. i chose these 2 cartoon network characters, Johnny Bravo and Buttercup from Power Puff Girls.
